Week 42 is synonymous with an autumn break for many. Schools are closed, which means that the family can truly come together for creative projects that create a warm and cosy atmosphere.
With autumn comes colder weather, so we typically seek cosiness indoors in our warm living rooms. Although enjoying a good movie or series on television can be delightful, it can also be liberating and engaging to get a little "dirt under our nails" with flower projects. That's why we have created many DIYs you can do together during your autumn break.
Use the first days of the autumn break to prepare your home for many cosy hours with candlelight, leaves, and flowers in seasonal colours. Although orange is the ultimate autumn colour because it matches the leaves of the trees during this season, you can easily decorate your home with other beautiful autumn colours. A warm red, a delicate pink, or a lovely pink can all help spread warmth and an autumn atmosphere in your bedroom, living room, or bathroom.
A lovely and elegant way to welcome autumn could be to make tea lights using recycled glass decorated with delicate flowers and leaves. Candles combined with flowers are a great way to bring life and joy. Here's how you do it.
If you're up for a slightly larger holiday project, you can also create a beautiful pumpkin decoration with beautiful flowers and greens from the garden, which can adorn your home, or you can place it outside the front door. You could even put it on the dinner table if guests visit during the autumn break and want to add a little extra to the table setting. Follow the guide here.
The autumn break calls for cosy moments with family and indoor creative projects. One way to make your home even cosier is with a beautiful homemade autumn wreath adorned with candles.
The autumn wreath can be created in various beautiful colours, shapes, and sizes. Such a wreath can be used for small candle arrangements, as a welcome wreath for the front door, or as a standing table wreath. By adding branches and leaves from nature, you can give it an extra touch of the season.
Get inspired by this beautiful DIY autumn wreath that can be made with our potted plants or stems. A lovely homemade wreath for your home is both enjoyable to create and adds extra ambience indoors. To make the autumn wreath, you will need a candle holder, a candle, thick wire, green floral tape, myrtle wire, and Queen® Flowers. Watch this video as you follow our step-by-step instructions.
Step 1: Take the thick wire and measure around the object you use, such as a candle holder. Wrap the green floral tape around the wire all the way around. Pull the floral tape tightly to ensure it sticks securely to the wire. When cutting the wire, add an extra 5 cm to allow space for the flowers.
Step 2: Wrap the myrtle wire a few times around the wreath to secure it. Then, cut small bunches of flowers. Place each bunch along the wire and wrap myrtle wire around the stem. The flowers do not need to go 360 degrees around the wire wreath but should cover at least half of the floral wreath.
Step 3: Continue all the way around with the flowers, ensuring they fully cover the tape. When you reach the end, secure the wreath by wrapping the myrtle wire a few times so the flower wreath doesn't fall apart.
As the autumn break approaches, it also means that Halloween is just around the corner. If you want to get a head start on Halloween during your autumn break, we have prepared a lot of (un)spooky creative projects that you can also try. You can decorate your home or make your outdoor space extra cosy with decorative autumn pumpkins adorned with Kalanchoe potted plants or create a pumpkin house with flowers and fairy lights. How about setting a table filled with adorable flower ghosts? All our creative projects can be done with the little ones in the family, making them perfect for involving the whole family.
